Kuraray Co., Ltd (株式会社クラレ, Kabushiki-gaisha Kurare) is a Japanese manufacturer of chemicals, fibers and other materials. Their main manufacturing facilities are located in Kurashiki, Okayama. The company's Tokyo administrative offices are located in Otemachi, Chiyoda in the Ote Center Building and its Osaka offices are located in the Umeda Hankyu Building). As of June 2007, Kuraray was the sole worldwide producer of Vectran liquid crystal polymer (LCP) fibre.

"Very unprofessional, unskilled and unlearned people in leadership. They promote based on a buddy system and those who are moved up will so call manage with the same mindset. If you’re not a friend, buddy of theirs they will seek to get rid of you with the support of HR, who is also NOT knowledgeable of how their roles operate. Customer service leads and HR personnel are the CANCER to the company."

"Plenty of over exposure to hazardous chemicals to go with a nice paycheck. You will need to be able to work like a machine and switch between days and night working the Dupont schedule. Organization and Safety are present for appearance only and hold little regard for the wellbeing of operations and maintenance personnel."

"There is some flexibility most days with work and family. The down side is, if you are not in with the in crowd, you are pushed aside and it’s kind of do as you are told."

Process Technician (Current Employee) says

"If you're into rubbing elbows with management and policies that apply to some and not others you'll fit right in. Employees their are in fear of reporting ANY injury no matter the severity but at the same time are supplied with improper tools and equipment to perform their jobs safely. It's a great place to learn and develop experience and skill but the dangers of operating it our substantial. Example: removing the build up of paste by hand/or with a tool that was not designed for such use at a particular barrel slit of a twin screw extruder running at 2,000+ rpms.Instead of slowing down production somewhat or fixing the problem with the leaking paste at the slit it's simpler for management to subject their employees to the danger of trying to remove it. Personal/mechanical/electrical safeties are bypassed throughout the plant, valves that are partially functional or totally inoperable aren't replaced in a timely manner. Their control system is a joke. Though process controls are calibrated and checked the use of bypasses runs rampant. Ventilation systems are barely operable at times when it comes to removing chemical vapors from work areas. Mechanical strand cutters that have KNOWN issues are babied until management decides they've wasted enough product all while their operators are silenced and forced to work harder due to the lack of support from management. Example: A particular mechanical strand cutter up there needed bearing replacement for well over a year but management would not listen to it's employees who work on the cutters day in day out, when the cutters failed Cons: no pension, no union, lack of safety, low moral, selective advancement, not everyone can sleep while at work, no disciplinary action when caught."

"Will be through temp agency and hours change with little notice. You could be on 1st for a month then be transferred to 3rd unexpectedly. The company avoids advancement and full benefits"

"Micro-managed to the extreme, too many bosses, shift supervisors have very little stroke in the decision making process. Managers have very little compassion for the shift operators health issues. Cons: Management is the worst that I have ever experienced"
